The Moving Forward Immersion

SPRING 2025 COHORT IS NOW OPEN FOR ENROLLMENT

The Moving Forward Immersion is now enrolling for our Spring 2025 cohort, and we’re excited to bring you new content and a renewed emphasis on being prepared to meet uncertainty in a grounded and adaptable way. We have no idea what the future holds, but if we want to take part in creating a more liberated world, we need to find ways to gain some level of comfort with being uncomfortable. We can find ways to come together as community and share in our experiences. And we can learn techniques to help us create strong and supple bodies and a limber mind.

What would it be like to move forward intentionally rather than be dragged by circumstance?

Each Friday evening, we'll meet for a meal and connection. While the start time is 5:30, this is flexible as we spend the first 30 or so minutes in a time of decompression and nourishment. From there, we have a check-in and then a physical practice session, followed by a time for questions, impressions, etc.

Each session is on Zoom as well, so you can attend from home / afar if it makes sense to you. If you can’t make it to the session, you can catch the recording at a more convenient time.

Our practice sessions will include toys and props that will help us to move our bodies in a variety of ways that can help signal adaptability to our nervous system. When we practice together, we also place an emphasis on communication and relationship.

The Moving Forward Practice is an ongoing evolution co-created by:

Dr. Jennifer King, professor and Co-director of the Center for Trauma and Adversity at Case Western Reserve University

Cassandra Sirl, birth/death/body worker and movement educator

and Hope Hamling, founder and teacher at Abide Yoga and Abide West in Cleveland

What we’ll be up to:

  • Spending a good amount of time in the physical practice

  • Learning the components of the Moving Forward practice

  • Understanding the neuroscience behind the practices

  • Engaging in different variations on the practices

  • Finding creative expression within the concepts

  • Creating a thoughtful and dynamic community

  • Exploring within ourselves to find sustainable ways of embodying this practice

  • Delicious dinner each gathering session
