What would it feel like to draw yourself? What does it mean to capture and create your own image on paper?
This self-portrait workshop is designed to be welcoming and encouraging of all artistic “skill” levels. In fact, we want to challenge this concept of artistic “skills” entirely.
We will not be teaching techniques. We will not hold an art critique on your work. In fact, we don’t want this to feel like work. There are no set standards for you to meet.
It’s just a group of humans getting together to make some art. To put our image on paper. To see and be seen. To connect with ourselves, and if we want, share ourselves with others.
What to expect :
- a brief chat to break down the mental barriers we have around Art, Self, and Portraits
- a guided meditation to connect us to ourselves
- 45 mins to make a self portrait
(during this time, no talking to limit distractions. An intentionally curated playlist will hold the space for us)
- a group share, only if you want to of course
We will provide:
- light refreshments
- basic art supplies and paper
- tables
We ask that you bring:
- your favorite art supplies from home
- a willingness to create
This will become a regular offering. It would be interesting to see how your self portraits and thus the way you view yourself might change over time!
